We spent seven nights cruising in full August and were extremely satisfied because we had a lot of fun. The crew on the ship were very friendly and the food was excellent. The rooms were always clean and well maintained, as were the common areas and the pool with the sun deck. For the various tours we chose a private guide (extra cost but agreed and optional) and we found him very good (hi Amir!) because he made a custom program for us, showing us as many sights as possible while respecting the ship’s sailing and docking schedule. He also picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. In short, this self‑organized trip for a family of four cost us one‑third of what the agency had quoted and is definitely doable on your own. Ignoring any prejudice, everyone we dealt with was super reliable and honest, and no one tried to steal or cheat us; of course, vigilance is always necessary, and the guide helps with that. The only downside was that the meals had extra charges, but the amounts were acceptable for us Europeans. The tipping situation was a problem, as it’s considered a final tip for the ship, the drivers, and the guides, and in Egypt this is the norm everywhere, so you have to plan for it. The guide spoke English, which can be an issue for those who don’t speak the language to follow the explanations. Perhaps four nights are enough to see the temples if you have a guide who can organize the timing like ours, but there are still other activities that can be more fun.

The Nile boats aren’t the prettiest on the outside, but the one we boarded (a last‑minute change) was extremely nice and well kept inside. The rooms are small but very nice, well decorated, and spotless (as is the rest of the boat), with excellent air‑conditioning, one of the best showers I’ve ever had on a boat, and a large firm yet comfortable bed. The TV is good, there are blackout curtains, and a lovely scent fills the whole vessel. I was pleasantly surprised because I’ve taken many sea cruises and two previous Nile cruises, and I wasn’t expecting much! The food was tasty and varied. The only negatives are mostly personal preferences: the gym is very small, only big enough for two people, with a bike, treadmill, some free weights, and a bench. My biggest gripe is the meal times on day one: breakfast started at 5 am and finished at 7 am, lunch was 130 some days at 1 pm, others later, and dinner at 8 pm—way too late in my opinion. The staff are mostly friendly and helpful, but English is not widely spoken.

The operator of the booking is an unscrupulous local businessman, and the boat advertised is not the one we were booked onto. Everything about the boat was dirty and in an extremely poor state of repair.

The staff were very attentive, the food was delicious, and we took the Spanish tour with Mr. Sayed, which was really good.
