“Superb value”

The facility was superb, the food exceptional, and the owner added a personal touch. It felt like Franschoek in Grabouw at an amazing price, and the Orchard and Perigrene stalls just down the road made it even better.

“Perfect relaxing one night stay. An Oasis in Grabouw.”

Everything about the Residence was perfect—from Diego’s initial contact before arrival, his friendly professional welcome, to the spacious studio with a woodburner, bed, terrace, kitchenette, and an incredible bathroom. The manor house and grounds were immaculate and peaceful. We only missed trying the pool and staying for breakfast this time, which we’ll fix in summer. It’s a great base to visit Elgin and the surrounding area, and a weekend driving along the Whale Coast from Cape Town, beach walk and lunch in Pringle Bay, golf in Kleinmond, overnight stay at the Residence, brunch at the Railway Market, and driving back over St Lowrys Pass makes for a perfect trip. Only downside: we stayed just one night.

The proprietors, Diego and Réka, are the real value added to this stay: welcoming, kind, and always attentive to every need, they make you feel truly at home with authentic hospitality that’s never impersonal. The hotel is polished to the smallest detail, elegant yet warm and cozy. And the breakfasts… truly delicious, made with great care. A special place where you feel the owners’ passion for what they do.

The gardens are beautiful and give you a real sense of being in the countryside.
