“Man bekommt einen Eindruck wie das Leben auf einer Farm mit über 7000 ha in Namibia ist.”
We chose SanDune Game Lodge as the final stop of our Namibia trip from Maun to Windhoek’s airport, looking for a top-rated place near Gobabis. The lodge sits on a well-maintained asphalt road that ends with about 8 km of red sand leading to the property. It’s a huge estate with chalets that feel more like villas, horse stalls, a restaurant, and a swimming pool with a bar for those with higher standards. Near the pool is a trough where, in the evenings, you could see plenty of wildlife—an unforgettable sight during dinner. The reception was very friendly, served sparkling wine, and the staff overall were very kind; I recommend the Oryx steak. We stayed for two nights, spending one day relaxing by the pool, which suited us perfectly. The road from the lodge to the airport was one of the most beautiful and well-kept on our tour. However, contrary to the information provided, the lodge is actually about 20 km outside Gobabis, and it turned out to be the most expensive option, although the restaurant prices were absolutely fine, and we have no complaints in hindsight.
