Hotel Schnookeloch, located in a historic, listed building 100 metres from the Old Bridge in Heidelberg, offers free WiFi and is a 10-minute walk from Heidelberg Castle. Completely refurbished in 2014, rooms feature new furniture, bathrooms, and flat-screen TVs, with soundproofed windows and some offering balconies. The hotel participates in the Heidelberg Go Green campaign, reducing service frequency to every second day starting October 1st, 2024.

The breakfast was good and plentiful, but there was no TV programming—just a Smart TV with no access.

The rooms were great, and the building has hosted historic celebrities. I’m 79 and use a wheelchair, so the centuries‑old structure’s stairs were a real challenge for me.

The Schnokelooch sits right in the heart of Heidelberg and really captures the city’s charm. The hallway and room furnishings, like the two windows, still feel old‑fashioned, yet the bathroom has been completely modernized. Even though it’s in the city center above a pub, it was completely quiet. We’ll definitely come back!

The location is excellent. The owner always had a joke ready at breakfast, which we appreciated—very laid‑back. The room’s paint had peeled off.
