“Amaris and Ibis Budget are much better.”

The place reeks of feet, and the towels smell even worse. Construction noise at 2:30 a.m. woke me up, and mosquitoes bit me while I slept. When I asked for water the first night, I got an attitude; the staff apologized the next day and offered water every time I saw them, but I’d already bought it at the store. I’m being brutally honest because, as a foreigner, I had to endure a lot of racist dirty looks. Just go to Menteng if you’re not Indonesian.

“Totally is perfect”

The staff and room were perfect. The location is a bit far from downtown and the busy streets.

The air conditioning worked well and the room was spacious, but a lot of potential was wasted. First, the lobby staff were hard to communicate with, though the cleaning staff was helpful—they removed a lizard from the bathroom. The bathroom had no window or ventilation, and the shower was a torture. Everything in the room was old; one leg of my bed came loose at 3 am. I texted the lobby immediately, and they said they would check in the morning. No apology was offered, not even when I checked out. We had a flight that morning, so waking up after a terrible sleep was awful; I had to sleep on a crooked bed. Overall, it was the worst room I’ve stayed in the last year. You can find something better for this price, or just pay more—it’s worth it.

The price and swimming pool are good. Water was dripping from one of the toilet taps.
