“I would not go back.”

There was nothing to like. Before arrival, we got an email assigning us Lock Box 1, Room 1, and the access code. When we got there, another guest—who didn’t speak English—was already staying in Room 1 and had the same key. He also had the code for Lock Box 2 and gave it to us so we could enter an alternative room (Room 2). If he hadn’t been there, we would never have accessed the property. We tried contacting the host right away using the mobile number in the email, which said we could text anytime. The call went straight to voicemail, and our text explaining the situation got no reply. On top of the access and communication issues, the room itself was unacceptable: the room was visibly dirty, with a broken mirror and many scratches and marks on the walls; there was a large leak stain on the ceiling; behind the bed were bifold doors leading into a laundry room, and from there a door to the garden had no handle or lock and was left open, creating a serious security risk; the bifold doors themselves were not properly closed or secured, so we had to lock them ourselves upon arrival; the bed was in poor condition, missing slats, and instead of fixing it, two mattresses had been stacked on top of each other, causing a deep dip in the middle and an extremely uncomfortable sleep; the bathroom was also in poor condition, with visible mould/spores on the walls, peeling plaster on both walls and ceiling, dirty shower heads, mould around the shower area, and no hand soap provided.

Nothing good, absolutely awful. The TV was hanging off the wall, not working, and there was no input source. There were no electric sockets, contrary to the listing. No smoke alarm, no fire extinguishers, and no marked fire escape. When I raised the issue, the landlord and booking service gave no reply. The communication was as useless as a chocolate teapot. This is a house of multiple occupation, so regulations like testing CPAC on common electrical items must be followed. This place is a deathtrap waiting for a victim.
