The place is in a fantastic spot, just a short walk from the waterfalls. Only one staff member spoke English, and the bathroom had plenty of spider webs.

The cottages near the famous waterfalls were nice, and the rest of the street was quiet with a few restaurants; a two‑day stay was sufficient.

The location was lovely, with comfortable rooms overlooking a nice garden; each room had a sitting area in front for downtime or watching the sunset. We really enjoyed our time in Senaru. The Wareong Senaru cottage is a short walk from the recommended waterfalls and the traditional village, and it’s surrounded by several similar spots that offer plenty of dining options. The accommodation was picturesque and relaxing, and we were pleased with our choice. Most visitors head there to start a climb of Mount Rinjani, but we just wanted a taste of the area, which we got and enjoyed. The focus on Mount Rinjani—currently partly closed because of four recent falls—means many operators neglect to highlight the surrounding environment and the rest of the region. The waterfalls are well advertised, but there’s so much more to see, and we thought it was lovely.

The staff were friendly, and they offered coffee, tea, or iced tea as a welcome drink. The room was very nice and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast options included Indonesian food. We stayed after a Rinjani hike and it was very relaxing, giving us a good long sleep.
