The spot is great and the rooms are comfy, but Saturday nights get a bit loud – we knew that would happen. The dining room turns into a nightclub next door around 9, which was a surprise.

The pub‑style lodging was solid: the room was tidy and cozy, and the shared bathroom was clean with good facilities. The pillows felt a bit old and flat. We had to climb many flights of stairs, but that kept us away from the noise.

The French‑door river view was nice, but I had no booking, no phone, and they left me stranded in Mackay – a nightmare. They tried to fix it with a spare room, but there was no fridge and I was left on the street. Don’t trust them.

The old‑world charm of the place is lovely, and its position opposite the park gives easy access to the river. Everything else was good.
