“Peor de lo esperado”
When we arrived the place was clean. The girls doing laundry or cleaning were friendly. It’s not terribly bad for those with a motorcycle, hiring tours, or who like to walk, but both the port and the beaches are about a 30‑minute walk with steep climbs; the scenery makes the walk worthwhile. The reception staff were not friendly and were sometimes absent. They send a message asking you to notify them if you need cleaning, but they’re not available 24 h and don’t answer messages; ultimately the reception work is done by a few girls who seem to be contracted to clean, and they’re polite and kind, but it feels like they’re overworked. The reception only greets you when you arrive. It’s very overpriced (for €40 a night, we stayed at a luxury hotel in other areas for €20). For Thailand, given the amenities offered, that price is excessive. We stayed four nights and upon arrival we had two towels, two water bottles, a shampoo and a 5 ml gel, and a roll of toilet paper; none of these were replenished over the four nights, the room wasn’t cleaned or towels changed, and they made small fires very close to the room. There were many mosquitoes; when we arrived there were none, but later the door didn’t close properly and mosquitoes entered through holes. At that price they could provide a plug or something to repel them. The kitchenette (microwave and kettle) didn’t provide a knife, a small dish soap, or two welcome coffee sachets. The shower drain is in the toilet instead of the shower, so when you shower the whole bathroom gets wet, and if you go to the toilet you always get your feet wet; the bathroom smelled like urine that seemed to come from another residence, even after we added soap it didn’t stop. I won’t comment further. Taxis on the island are quite expensive, so if you don’t have a motorcycle, don’t hire tours, and don’t like walking, be prepared to pay.
