“Goede locatie, maar verblijf viel helaas wat tegen”

We had friendly contact before our arrival time. The accommodation is close to the beach and the city centre and easy to reach by our own tuk‑tuk. Because it was low season and quiet, we could park easily. The room was large and spacious. We were warmly received on arrival. We were the only guests in the complex during our stay. At first glance Ural Surf House looked fun and cozy, with cheerful green and pink colours. Unfortunately, upon closer inspection, the stay fell short. The rooms, kitchen and bathroom were a bit dated and not uniformly clean. Some items were broken or not working: one AC unit didn’t work and a chair leg was loose. The kitchen and bathroom didn’t look very clean or fresh, and there was white glue in the fridge. We also found a cockroach in the room. After we reported it, action was taken promptly, which we appreciated. In terms of hygiene and maintenance, there is still room for improvement.

The hotel is great and the location is excellent. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The rooftop pool and bar are amazing—perfect for relaxing. Breakfasts were delicious, and the room had hot water and air conditioning, making the stay very comfortable. Highly recommended!

The swimming pool was perfect. The beds were comfortable and the room overall looked good. The air‑con was very loud. The shower drain was clogged with hair (not ours) and could have been cleaner. We stayed for 5 nights, so we would have liked a room cleaning in between. Be aware that it’s a bit away from everything; we had our own tuk‑tuk, so it wasn’t a problem for us.

We had an amazing stay. The hostel is well‑maintained, the location is excellent if you want peace and quiet, and the breakfasts are incredible. We loved our stay and would always recommend it.

The bed was great and the air conditioning kept the room comfortable for the price. The rooftop terrace was cozy, with a pool table, free water, and adorable kittens, and the breakfast, prepared by local women, was excellent. However, we were the only non‑Russian guests, which felt odd and out of place; most signage and information were in Russian, and the staff’s English was limited. Breakfast began only around 9:00–9:30, which didn’t fit our schedule, and the pool looked more decorative than functional, lacking sun loungers or seating. There were several power outages, though that might just be typical for Sri Lanka.
