The front desk staff were friendly, but the room I booked for 33,000 ¥ was actually 23,000 ¥ and ended up being cramped and underwhelming.

This place sits in a quiet backstreet with excellent amenities, cozy rooms, and very helpful staff, plus easy access to cafés, restaurants, shops and transport – exactly what I wanted for Kyoto. The only downside is the beds are a bit firm, which is typical for Japanese hotels.

The rooms are compact yet thoughtfully designed with good amenities, and the staff are friendly. The only issue was that the window, the neighboring apartment wall, and the corridor were so close that I couldn't open the curtains.
