Well situated near the side road to Keli Mutu, just a slight uphill from the village center. The hosts were friendly and assisted with scooter hire and onward travel. The room was large, clean, had a comfortable bed, and the bathroom featured an excellent hot shower. There’s a small terrace with a nice valley view. Breakfast included a stack of pancakes. The downside is that the road can be noisy, and a shelf or small wardrobe would be handy for clothes.

The view is amazing, but the road noise can be bothersome.

The room is simple and sober, but Hans and Emelda make it a superb place to stay. We felt part of the family, especially when a major earthquake struck Flores on 15 August and they welcomed us wonderfully. Despite the disaster, we had a great time with them and the other guests—an unforgettable experience.

Nice location with good views, breakfast, and close to the mountain. We rented a motorbike and took a short downhill trip to restaurants for lunch and dinner. Hans runs the place, is friendly, helpful, and can arrange transportation. He helped us secure a good deal for our onward journey to Maumere. The place is a bit dated and, according to Hans, needs an upgrade in the future. There are several Sao Ria spots on Google Maps; search for the one with “lodge” in the name. The birdlife is nice, and there’s a friendly kitten and dog (barks but not aggressive).
