An associate assisted me with my luggage. The hotel engaged in shady practices: after booking, they tried to add taxes and fees until I pointed out the rate was already inclusive. The manager then attempted to convert the price to the local currency using a “black market” rate with hefty fees, rather than the standard daily rate. An associate had initially said taxes and fees were added to the displayed rate. I objected, and the manager said the taxes were included but the conversion was wrong. I offered to pay in local currency to resolve the dispute, but the manager again refused, insisting the hotel disagreed with the conversion. I argued that the issue was between the hotel and the booking platform, not between me and the hotel. We debated the use of a 12.5:1 “black market” rate for a while, and when I said it was unacceptable, the manager said they couldn’t rent the room to me. I left for another hotel that used a standard 11.5:1 rate, and I shared my experience with them, who also asked if the manager at this hotel was using a black market rate.

“My stay was pleasant and perfect location in osu no complaints”

I spent two weeks at The Ritzz Exclusive Guest House in Accra and loved the unbeatable Osu location—vibrant, just a short walk from Oxford Street, with plenty of eateries and shops. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the rooms were comfortable and personal, especially the kitchenette. Because it was low season, I was upgraded to a better room, which made the stay even more special. My room was cleaned daily, and the sheets were changed regularly. Staff were always there to open the door when I entered or exited the building. They gave me plenty of local tips, helped me plan day trips, and I even became good friends with Isaac, the security guard, who helped me find items to bring back to England. The manager went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. Overall, it was fantastic—I’d definitely stay again. The only downside was that the guest house has no lift, so my third‑floor room was a bit of a challenge with luggage, though the staff carried my bags for me, which was a huge help. I also noticed construction signs for new rooms, but no noise disturbed me. They plan to add a rooftop bar, which sounds exciting.
