The staff are very accommodating and the whole place feels very comfortable, especially for a female solo traveler.

I had a kitchen but no access to a shower, and the staff were rude. They never explained any diving prices or what was actually included in the free breakfast, even though it wasn’t mentioned in the booking. The food was stingy and they were very rude about it.

The vibe, the hosts, and the community feel were great, but the shower was lacking.

Everything was perfect, and I’ll be staying another 5 nights.

We spent three nights at Bughaw Dive House and can only say positive things. The owner Ally and her team are incredibly friendly, warm, and attentive hosts – you feel welcomed from the first moment. The room is small, exactly as described. The bed is comfortable, there’s a fan, and the bathroom is shared. Nothing extraordinary – but everything is clean, functional, and perfectly fine. What stands out is the consistently positive, open, and relaxed atmosphere that Elli radiates. There’s a lovely common area with games, free water at all times, and really good freshly brewed Filipinno‑Arabica coffee. In the morning you can order a small breakfast at a very, very fair price. Ally also gives great tips – whether for scuba‑diving schools, local restaurants, or activities on site. Freediving is offered directly through the attached freediving school, which is perfect for anyone who wants to try it. What we especially want to highlight: even before arrival, Ally sent us a very detailed step‑by‑step guide via message on how to get to the guesthouse cheaply using local transport from Batangas or from Manila. That was extremely helpful because you get a realistic sense of local prices and know exactly what’s fair. Everything worked flawlessly – we couldn’t have arrived better. We’ve never experienced such support on all our travels before. We would really wish more guesthouses offered such a great, transparent, and helpful guide. Personal recommendation: definitely try the local food spot Power Foods Eatery about 20 minutes on foot – an absolute secret tip, you won’t be disappointed! The only negative was that ant bait on the threshold before the room would have been nice… sometimes an ant trail forms there. The Wi‑Fi was okay, but could be improved with a booster/repeater. Otherwise there’s nothing to complain about.
