Hotel Hoffmann, a family‑run 2‑star hotel, sits on a side street between Essen Hauptbahnhof and the Grugapark exhibition centre. Rooms have TV, free Wi‑Fi, private baths, and a breakfast room offers daily buffet. A 2‑minute walk leads to Rüttenscheider Stern underground station, with bus, tram, and A40/A52 motorway links for access. 15‑minute walk or two underground stops to Hauptbahnhof, Grugapark.

The breakfast was superb and left no room for improvement. The room was nicely furnished and met all my needs. The only downside was that the rooms were only reachable by stairs, as noted on the website.

I had to rebook at a nearby alternative hotel, which went smoothly. The reception on site was very warm. The breakfast (excellent) was still available at the original hotel. Despite the small change, everything fit together nicely, and I would return because of the hosts.

The hosts were very friendly! The location is perfectly central and still quiet even though it’s on the back side. The room is cozy with plenty of storage, and the French bed was very comfortable for me alone. The hairdryer is old and won’t turn on at first after a short use, so you need a bit of patience. The sheets had a somewhat unpleasant perfume for me personally. I think a buffet would be more practical – you grab whatever you want to eat, most of the time.

The hotel is easy to reach by subway. The owner welcomed us warmly and handed us our room key without any hassle. The room has everything you need… there was also a hairdryer on site (just for my daughters). 😁😁😊 Soap, shower gel, and shampoo are provided. The owner, Mr. Hoffmann, promptly gave us an extra bed when I suddenly needed one. All in all, a great stay. We’d definitely go back.
