The staff are friendly, the central location is quiet, the cleanliness is good, the décor is modern, and the rooms are spacious. The TV in the mirror above the sink is inconvenient and far from the bed. The narrow spiral staircase to the rooms on the first and second floors means there is no lift. There are few places to hang clothes, so hangers are missing. The breakfast buffet is too small for the large number of guests and the wide food selection. The very friendly staff were understaffed at breakfast, causing unavoidable delays.

The hotel sits charmingly on a square with all those timber‑framed houses, very picturesque. Inside it’s been renovated, fresh and clean. The rain shower is fantastic. The staff are very friendly. On arrival day we had a nice dinner in the evening. Breakfast is fine, fresh produce and your egg is cooked to your liking. It’s close to the A5, good for a layover. You can also take a walk through the Altstadt or climb to the higher castle. The room was smaller than described and the photos suggested otherwise. In a “Superior double room” I expected a larger room than the one (nr 19) we got. Two people didn’t fit in the bathroom, it was really cramped. When you’re on the toilet, you’re almost stuck against the shower door. If you want to turn off the shower while your partner is on the toilet, you can’t get out. There is no kettle, no mini‑fridge, only two ceramic cups. In our view this doesn’t deserve the name superior.

The location in the centre is absolutely fantastic. Reception, service, food, outdoor dining, rooms…everything was perfect. We travelled with a friend couple who were as enthusiastic about the "Goldener Engel" as we were. There was nothing to criticize.

The location was very good. The breakfast was presented decoratively and tasty in a small space. There was only one small window, so proper ventilation was impossible. The doors in the building made loud noises when closed. We didn’t know we were in the annex. Getting there was complicated.
