The location was excellent, the place was super comfortable, and the parking was great.

The rooms were clean and had been updated recently. The coffee was brewed, not just instant, which was a nice touch. The kitchenette had Tupperware containers, which was great because we brought a packed lunch on our hike that would otherwise have been squashed in our backpacks. The local pub was within walking distance and had a nice vibe. When the weather was clear, the view of the mountains was great. The room let in a fair amount of light at night because of a balcony light, so I wore a sleeping mask and it was fine. There wasn’t much noise from the road, but you could hear the neighbours – the owners provided ear buds, but we didn’t need to use them.

The photos of the room were very limited, and the room turned out to be different from the general photos shown for the hotel. The room is fine, but it’s not very transparent.

“A fabulous place, run by lovely people.”

The place was newly renovated. On clear days we had stunning views of two snowy mountains (see the photo from inside the room). It was impeccably clean, the beds were comfy, and the caretaker gave a lovely welcome. The owner Stu also runs Adrift Tongariro crossings, and we happened to book our crossing through them too. I’m really happy that we supported good people with our business. Highly recommend Stu for the Tongariro crossing if you’re doing that. We can’t live there forever, though.

“Perfekt!”

The location was perfect for the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and generally for the national park.
