The Old Nag’s Head, a 16th‑century inn in Edale, sits at the Pennine Way’s gateway within the Peak District. Its cottages overlook rolling hills, while the historic pub—ranked among England’s top 100—offers a log‑fire, local ales, and a cozy restaurant. Nearby Ladybower Reservoir, Sheffield, Stockport, and Manchester are all within a 30‑minute drive.

Cozy, sufficient, gorgeous spot and the staff were super friendly. The shower was great and the bed the most comfortable. A bit old‑fashioned, the cooker dials were hard to read and there were no instructions.

Wonderful spot to start the Pennine Way. Cross the tiny road and the path begins. The cottage‑style lodging was comfortable, clean, well‑equipped and tidy. Nothing else to note.

Great location, pub food was excellent. The bar was full, so they served us upstairs. The beds and furniture feel dated, a bit basic and not very comfy – seems they’re geared toward muddy walkers, so comfort isn’t a priority. Very few kitchen utensils.

The flat sits right at the start of several nice hiking trails, which is great. However, the constant whirring of the ventilation system was annoying and made one of the two bedrooms unusable, plus the shower only delivered lukewarm water.
