Prince Smart Inn Nagoya Sakae

The hotel is very basic. It’s clean, but the wear is evident (especially the super dirty hallway floor). The downstairs amenities are available. Breakfast is simple and minimal. The location compensates for the shortcomings, as the hotel makes it easy to navigate the city. I’m not sure if the Asian Games (several teams and staff stayed here) pushed the price up, but it was far too high for what the hotel offered. The front‑desk staff spoke only minimal English, the check‑in process was confusing and took too long.

The staff were friendly and the service was good. The shower pressure was terrible, hot water turned on and off frequently while I was using it, and the room smelled like bad sweat.

The hotel’s exterior was pretty clean, but the free breakfast had a limited selection.

The place was very tidy and comfortable, with a roomy room and pleasant shared areas, but the Japanese front desk staff were a bit lackluster and the morning meal didn’t live up to the glowing reviews—nothing particularly tasty.
