“It's basic but the host is trying.”

The host is extremely caring and worked hard to make our stay pleasant. This is a large old historic house and the accommodation is basic, which shows in the price. Breakfast is extra and the host tried very hard to make it good. With a little refinement and more thought, things could be a bit better. The shower waste couldn't drain the large shower head when it was on, and I narrowly avoided a flood. There was no teaspoon to measure coffee in my room and the cup had a broken handle. The host gave a comprehensive breakfast and fried an egg that he served on a stone‑cold plate. Jams, cheese and butter were in original pots and wrappers that were obviously used by previous guests. With a little tweaking the whole experience could improve and justify a higher price.

The building is gorgeous and old, and the host with his cute little dog Raul is delightful. The breakfast table with other guests, all of whom had stayed there before, says a lot! Brilliant value for money, and there was a secure place to keep bikes. Thank you so much. We liked everything. Though it wouldn’t be for those who want everything perfect, it’s full of faded grandeur and friendliness.

“Lovely large old traditional town house with very big rooms and old world charm.”

I met a very friendly and helpful owner, and the place sits nicely in town with easy access to everything. The view from my room was lovely, and the old traditional townhouse had big rooms and old‑world charm that made it feel very spacious. The value was great, though being an older building, there isn’t much soundproofing between rooms so it sometimes felt like my neighbours were in my room, but that’s expected.
