I stood in front of the hotel door, my booking confirmed, but the hotel is permanently closed, so I can no longer stay there.

“Nie wieder”

“Old and worn” is not even an expression. There was nothing I liked. The windows wouldn’t close properly. The equipment was very old. In the second room there was no radio or TV. The front door wouldn’t open with our key. If we hadn’t had in‑laws staying with us, we wouldn’t have been able to get in at night. The heating was rusted. At night you could hear people walking through your room.

“Kein Wunder, dass das Hotel nun dauerhaft geschlossen ist!”

We were contacted by phone before arrival and later sent an email with a link to a payment platform; the room was supposed to be paid for before arrival because no one would be at the front desk. The hotel looked closed and run-down when we got there, and there was no staff on site. There was also no breakfast buffet. In the room we found two vouchers for a bakery a few hundred metres away. We decided against staying overnight. The website then showed that the hotel would permanently close the next day. The 140.- Euro for a double room with a dirty bathroom was an insult.

“Für eine kurze Übernachtung nach einer Feier in der naheliegenden Eventlocation okay.”

The hotel is close to the event venue Hammerwerk. The rooms were only superficially clean (for example, the fridge wasn’t properly washed), breakfast was sparse, and the breakfast staff were not very approachable.
