“Bel endroit calme près de Gand”

Staying in a pleasant neighbourhood just outside Ghent was a treat, especially with a private pool, jacuzzi and sauna all to ourselves – the late‑checkout option was a nice touch too. However, the price tag (including a €25 per‑person breakfast) made us expect flawless upkeep, and we found a few cracks in the wall, a missing roof panel, the pool‑cleaning robot left in the water for three days, and showers that were more cold than warm. Those little lapses felt out of step with the premium vibe.

It felt like a nice balance between city and countryside. The only thing missing was a simple thermos for the morning coffee so it stayed hot through breakfast.

The location is genuinely tranquil and the staff greeted us with genuine warmth, but the accommodation wasn’t ready when we arrived. We had to wait an hour for the jacuzzi to heat up and the house heating was still off, and the sauna smelled of too‑much cleaning product, leaving our eyes and throat burning. It’s advertised as a shared wellness area, yet clearer warnings would have helped avoid the surprise.

The surroundings are stunning and instantly relaxing, and having free access to both the sauna and the spa lets you make the most of the stay. Everything was spotless, and the breakfast spread was genuinely tasty.
