The location was great—just a 7‑minute walk to Hiriketiya Beach with plenty of good restaurants and cafés along the way. The host was very friendly and always tried to help us. The Wi‑Fi was excellent and the air‑conditioning had plenty of power. We also got two free bottles of water at the start, and the shower finally had decent water pressure, which is a rarity in Asian hostels. The photos on the site don’t match reality; they look much older and the place feels a bit dated, especially the bathroom, which left us feeling uneasy. We’re mid‑budget backpackers, so we don’t expect luxury, but the bathroom was barely usable for showering. We even saw a cockroach in the bathroom for two nights—though the host’s son removed it quickly, it still made sleeping uneasy.

The spot was good. The room smelled bad, was damp, and the walls were stained. The sink kept water pooling, and overall it wasn’t very clean.

Everything was perfect—the family, the time we spent together, their kindness, everything! Not staying here would be a mistake.

The location was great, the room was very comfortable with A/C (a lifesaver on hot days!), the premises were clean, and the staff communicated well. We enjoyed our stay.
