Raja Beach Hotel

“Great place, lovely people, fantastic 2day stay.”

The beach location was amazing, the rooms were huge with air‑conditioning fans and a lovely balcony. The price was great, run by a lovely family—a Sri Lankan and German couple—so we could sample different meals. They’re a great example of hard work building dreams. The lady had spent 25 years working for McDonald’s in Germany on minimum wage, while the husband worked as an engineer. The place keeps improving. We didn’t plan properly for the monsoon season, so the sea wasn’t safe to swim in, and the property had no pool; the hotel down the beach was happy to let us use theirs if we bought from their bar (this hotel was three times more expensive to stay at :) The current owners of Raja Hotel were saving to build a pool.

“Ein Bijoux. Wir fühlten uns sofort wie "zu Hause"”

Breakfast and dinner were fantastic, tasty and freshly prepared with plenty of heart. The whole complex is beautiful and perfect for relaxing. Right on the lovely (crowd‑free) beach. It was the best thing that could happen after our three‑week tour; we had the perfect finish. Lalani & Steffen are warm hosts and quickly grew close to our hearts.

“Enjoyable.”

The spot is great—just a quiet stretch of beach framed by lovely gardens, and the room itself is huge. The team really pushed hard to keep everything running smoothly. The only downside is the absence of a pool; a pool would be nice since the sea right outside the hotel is pretty rough. The air‑con could be stronger.

“I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. Quiet, relaxing location, high standard rooms and good food.”

The hotel faces a spotless tropical beach and sits amid beautiful gardens, and it’s close enough to the Madu River safari and the Cinnamon Island trip, where you can watch cinnamon being made. The staff will book those excursions for you. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and have large en‑suite bathrooms that are spotless inside and out. The owners and staff went out of their way to meet every need, and the home‑cooked food was tasty. Thanks for taking care of us. The only drawback is that the property is a bit off the main road, so not every taxi will drive there, but the hotel will arrange a taxi if you need one. There’s no TV in the room.

The location is fantastic, right next to a beautiful beach that’s almost private except for the occasional fishermen pulling in nets, which added to the charm. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the rooms are huge and well‑equipped, the food is made to order and delicious, and the price is unbeatable. Nothing else to mention—this was my second stay and I’ll definitely return. Thank you!
