The historic context, the luxurious surroundings, the surrounding forest, the tasty meals, and the attentive staff were all wonderful. The only downside was the worn carpet in the hallways.

The Grande Hotel Termas de Araxá charms with its palatial style: old architecture, period furniture, and halls that seem frozen in time. The corridors are wide and quiet, inviting slow walks—especially at night when the premises become even more beautiful and you can stroll calmly. The outdoor heated pool completes the atmosphere: warm water outside, no rush, amid a hotel that feels like a palace. Ideal for travelers who prefer a relaxed pace and want history, comfort, and a bit of spa in one place. Weaknesses: there is no covered parking, and the weekly activity schedule, including the Getúlio Vargas room tour, is only given at check‑in—if you stay on a day without a tour, you can’t see the room.

The scenery offers a stunning natural setting, many birds, plenty of greenery, a great pool, and good service. The mattress was in poor condition, leaving a hole that caused significant discomfort and back pain; another guest reported the same issue. Also, the costs need clarification—there’s no price list in the room, and the minibar charges are unclear.

I really liked the facilities; the preservation of the historic part is noticeable, and I found it fascinating to take guided tours of the offices and rooms of the authorities from the opening era. Breakfast is excellent and the staff are very polite. I stayed on the sixth floor, and the room felt small and cramped, although the balcony area is huge with a beautiful view of the lake and all the green area behind the hotel. I was somewhat disappointed that all the spa services are paid by guests, and the prices are high. The sauna is the only spa area that isn’t charged. I think the steam pool should be included in the room rate or charged at a much lower fee for guests.
