The location is fantastic, with turtles, sharks, and nesting birds, and the surroundings are glorious. The ferry is a bit pricey, which bumps up the overall cost.

The setting is dreamy on a small island in the Barrier Reef, with superb snorkeling and a very pleasant atmosphere. I had no health problems during my stay. Thanks to the friendly and helpful medical staff for their support.

The location is great, but the food is average for what you pay. Three years ago we visited Heron Island and the food was very good, perhaps because of a different chef; this time it was disappointing.

The location and staff were good, but the breakfast and pre‑arrival communication on the website were lacking.

We enjoyed our 5‑day stay on Heron Island, which feels more eco than resort; the rooms are a bit shabby but functional and clean. The ranger talks, activities, and entertainment kept us happy, the food was varied and acceptable, and the bird life is amazing. However, once at the resort the staff were great, but dealing with the resort online and over the phone for things like a cot in the room or helicopter arrangements was very difficult, leaving me unsure if things were confirmed without multiple contacts. I would have preferred a la carte or take‑away breakfast instead of a daily buffet, and the take‑away arrangements for lunch and dinner need improvement; the small restaurant entrance gets overcrowded with both pickup and dine‑in guests. The resort can’t fix this, but the noticeable coral degradation over the past 20 years since my last visit to Heron Island is very disappointing.
