The shower trickles water out, which is very annoying, and everything just looks outdated. The pool was locked in the afternoon on a weekday, so I had to search for someone to unlock it, only to find that the water was cold when it’s supposed to be heated. Do better, San Simeon lodge.

The on‑site restaurant was surprisingly good, but it’s basic and you get what you pay for; included breakfast was limited to just a choice of four pre‑set items.

The bartender was nice to us, but the pool was locked upon arrival (daytime, weekday). I had to search for staff to unlock it, and the so‑called “heated pool” was definitely not heated. The shower barely worked, had no water pressure, and once I turned it on, it stayed cold even with the hot setting all the way up. An overall update of the place would be nice.

I stayed at a pet‑friendly spot with a beach just across the street, easy to walk to, but the room had no AC and the bathroom looked dated.
