The staff were very polite, friendly, and courteous. The hygiene was unacceptable: the bed was a bit dirty, had unclean marks and an odor, the faucet produced cloudy water, the sink drain was clogged and water didn’t flow. I hope the owner will take this criticism seriously and fix the problems so the business can thrive.

Check‑in was easy. There’s a cute cat roaming around and no insects in the room. The sheets were clean but still smelled because of the old pillow and duvet. The staff are friendly and try their best to communicate using Google Translate. The rooms are extremely run down and the photos are misleading. The Genius discount is also misleading because the price (150,000 IND) for the single room is their standard price—so all rooms are fairly cheap, and you get what you pay for. The bathroom is very old, small, and uncomfortable; the toilet doesn’t flush properly, no toilet paper is provided, and there’s no trash can with a plastic bag for disposing of toilet paper. Using the bidet is difficult because the water pressure is so low that showering is almost impossible. The sink in the room was clogged and the tap was dirty. There is an insane amount of noise from the busy road, and someone tried to open my door twice during the night. It’s more of a place for locals or for those who don’t mind all these issues and still want a private room on a budget as a solo traveler. Medan doesn’t seem to have many nice hotels anyway, unfortunately. The AC doesn’t cool.

The air‑conditioner worked, and a water refill was available. However, it was the worst night I’ve had in Indonesia in two months. The whole building smelled damp, and a loud water pump ran all day, making it impossible to sleep. The breakfast that was promised at 6 am (included in the booking) didn’t arrive on time, so we had to leave for the airport without eating. The room had no exterior window, the sheets were spotted, the bed was uncomfortable and sagging, and the room looked old with peeling wallpaper. In the bathroom there was no hot water, and at times the water supply failed completely. The bathroom was poorly cleaned. We usually travel cheaply, but even by Indonesian standards this place was disappointing.
