We had never experienced this before: an entire hotel just for us. On our Sunday return trip we stopped by and found the hotel completely deserted. A quick call and a friendly staff member came over and handed us the keys. The rooms were modern and stylish, the hotel was chic, parking was ample, and it was absolutely quiet. Breakfast was still available, plenty of it, and lovingly prepared.

The location was perfectly fine for the stay, with plenty of space, etc. Nothing else to complain about.

Dit was voor mij helaas één van de slechtste hotelervaringen die ik heb gehad. Ik boek normaal gesproken altijd minimaal een 4-sterrenhotel, omdat ik veel waarde hecht aan comfort en service. Helaas vond ik dit hotel absoluut niet aan de verwachtingen van een 4-sterrenhotel voldoen. Sterker nog, naar mijn mening is zelfs één ster voor dit hotel al te veel. Hieronder mijn belangrijkste negatieve ervaringen met Patentkrug Design Hotel: 1. Ligging Het hotel ligt ongeveer 5 tot 6 kilometer van de dichtstbijzijnde supermarkt. Wanneer je met kinderen reist, is dat erg onpraktisch. Je moet vooraf voldoende drinken, snacks en andere kleine benodigdheden inkopen, want anders heb je ter plaatse weinig mogelijkheden. 2. Geen airconditioning of andere verkoeling In onze kamer was geen airconditioning en ook geen andere vorm van verkoeling aanwezig. De kamer was daardoor behoorlijk warm en benauwd, vooral 's nachts. 3. Onprettige communicatie bij de receptie De communicatie bij de receptie vond ik niet gastvrij. Er werd in eerste instantie alleen Nederlands gesproken en ik kreeg daardoor het gevoel dat er weinig moeite werd gedaan om ons op een prettige manier als internationale gasten te helpen. Bij een hotel van dit niveau verwacht ik juist een gastvrije en professionele benadering. 4. Veel geluidsoverlast De kamers waren naar mijn mening absoluut niet goed geïsoleerd. Van rust in je kamer was nauwelijks sprake. Onze kamer bevond zich precies boven het restaurant van het hotel. De muziek en het geluid vanuit het restaurant waren 's avonds en 's nachts bijzonder storend. Hierdoor was het moeilijk om rustig te slapen. 5. Geen receptie of personeel in de avond/nacht Wat ik echt onbegrijpelijk vond, is dat er na 20:00 uur geen receptionist of ander personeel aanwezig was. Voor een hotel dat zichzelf als 4-sterrenhotel presenteert, vind ik dit zeer teleurstellend. Ik wilde 's avonds zelfs alleen maar een fles water kopen, maar er was niemand aanwezig om mij te helpen. 6. Geen koelkast in de kamer Ook was er geen koelkast of andere koelvoorziening in de kamer. Daardoor ben je eigenlijk aangewezen op het kopen van drinken bij het restaurant of de receptie, waar je uiteraard aanzienlijk meer betaalt. Bovendien was dit na 20:00 uur niet meer mogelijk, omdat alles gesloten was en niemand bereikbaar was. 7

The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, and the staff are outstanding—everyone is incredibly friendly, helpful, and goes out of their way to fulfill every request. The overall experience is flawless. The only suggestion I have is that it would be nice to have a kettle and a mug in the room so you could brew tea in between activities; this is merely a suggestion, not a complaint.

The transport links are superb, the location is very good, and there are plenty of free parking spaces. The breakfast is excellent and tasty, giving you a strong start to the day. The staff are very friendly, warm, and attentive. The furnishings throughout the hotel and in the rooms are cohesive, modern, and well maintained. It would be great to have a variety of pillows, as the large, bulky ones are not suitable for everyone and disrupt sleep. A makeup mirror in the bathroom would also be nice. In our room, we had to keep the blinds down all day because otherwise you could see from the parking lot and the restaurant entrance exactly when you were on the toilet, in the shower, or standing by the sink. A screen would solve this problem.
