They have my room away before I arrived

I paid a low price, but the motel was just a cheap place. The doors had signs telling people not to knock because the previous tenants were gone, which made me uneasy about whether someone shady had been in the room before me. The room itself was dirty, the beds were uncomfortable, the AC was loud, and there was a strong smoke smell.

The place felt unsafe and dirty; many staff members appeared to have serious drug histories visible on their faces. Several “tenants” taped signs on their doors accusing staff of stealing when they entered rooms. I’m a big guy, 6'4 and 220lbs, and most people left me alone, yet I felt anything could happen whenever I walked through the halls or out to my car. I’ve never felt nervous or unsafe walking around a hotel’s parking lot or halls at night before, so that was new to me. I’ve stayed in rough places before, and the nightlife around here is colorful. There were drugged-out zombies everywhere and some of the ugliest, most burned-out “working girls” I’ve ever seen approached me in the parking lot multiple times. I’m pretty sure I had the most teeth in the building, far more than any of the staff. When I arrived for my first night, I walked into my room and found three hardcore tweaker ladies in it with the door wide open; they had very few teeth and clearly lived rough lives doing hard stuff. They insisted they were “maintenance/hotel staff” and were tinkering with the AC, which was unsettling because they had the keys to the rooms. The front desk guy assured me they were hotel staff and that they were just getting the room ready for me. I stayed there for four days and would not recommend this place to anyone.

The hotel was sketchy and scary, and I had to sleep in my car because they didn’t honor my booking, which was probably for the best.
