“Come non fidelizzare i propri clienti”

The weekend was a work trip for a trade fair. The hotel advertised a “splendid sea‑view room with terrace and luxury finishes,” but the price was high. The sea view was non‑existent: the room sits on the first floor of a 1960s building at the corner of Marina di Carrara’s central square and Viale C. Colombo, making the sea only imaginable, more than 200 m away after the parking, pub, and pine grove. The square itself is very visible and buzzes with energy until late at night, thanks to bars and clubs on the ground floor that play loud music past 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, attracting the local youth. Sleeping was impossible. After the kids’ shouting, bottle disposal in the glass collection began, followed by street cleaning for the disturbance caused. I note that all of this happened with windows closed and blinds lowered, indicating that the windows are evidently not luxury‑grade (the blinds themselves included). To the owner: instead of dismissing the many guest comments about noise (“we’re in the centre of Marina di Carrara, naturally, it’s not like being in open countryside,” cited), you should install high‑insulation acoustic windows! That’s luxury. Parking the car at night within a 500 m radius is impossible. If luxury is defined by the use of marble in the room, I point out that in Carrara marble is also used in sidewalks and benches. The room is spacious, but the space isn’t optimally managed: a very large glass table, but no wardrobe or surface for luggage or clothes, only a small shelf with a few iron rods (is that luxury?). It’s a pity because the lobby would have had more wardrobe space, but it’s reserved for cleaning staff.

“Mi è piaciuto veramente”

I was thrilled with the location—central, a free parking spot nearby, and the sea just about 200 meters away. The building’s basement bar was a nice touch, and the sunsets were spectacular. The only downside: there were no meals or breakfast offered. Everything else was fine.
