“PUEBLA DE LA SIERRA, pueblo ecléctico con mucho por descubrir y disfrutar, cerca de Madrid.”
The hosts were wonderful, giving us all sorts of tips and help to get to the village and explaining the local services. The house is very pretty, charming, well equipped, very clean, with very comfortable beds and great heating. The village has one casual, homemade‑style restaurant that’s delicious; it’s better to book on weekends because it gets full. Go to the information centre where Guillermo will give you a free guided tour of the village’s picturesque spots—like the forge, the church, and the Japanese art museum—once you book in advance; he explains everything very well. The Dream Trail is another attraction to visit in this beautiful village, as well as the hike along the SENDA DE LOS ROBLES CENTENARIOS. The only thing that surprised us was that we had to pick up the keys in another town, Montejo de la Sierra; nowadays they’d probably use a keypad lock box at the house, but that’s how we met Belén’s mother, the host, which was another charm. For a note, the upper part of the fridge could use shelves for pantry storage; there isn’t much space to leave groceries. Everything else was great.
