Located on Fenchihu Old Street, Fenchihu Hotel is a 5-minute walk from Fenchihu Railway Station. The hotel features a 24-hour front desk, tour desk, luggage storage, and a convenience store selling Fengchihu Bento. Free guided tours are available daily (except Tuesday and Wednesday). Breakfast vouchers (100NTD per person) are provided for shopping at the adjacent 7-11 store. Rooms have hardwood flooring, flat-screen TVs, electric kettles, and private bathrooms with hairdryers and toiletries.

The room was huge, perfectly set up like in Japan, and sleeping on a futon was a great experience; the quiet helped me rest. The breakfast was two 100 $ TWD vouchers for the 7‑Eleven on the upper floor. The location is excellent, right in the middle of town. However, they sell the famous “benton” boxes and until 19:00 hrs the hotel is a hive of people coming and going and dining at the reception, so you can’t sit calmly anywhere. The place smelled like shrimp all day, for reasons unknown, from the first hour of the morning. There’s no parking; if you drive you have to hunt for a spot all over town. Also, at 18:00 hrs the town has nothing left to do because all the shops close.

The staff were very helpful, and the rooms have a Japanese style—large and comfortable. The hotel is old and can be noisy at times, with very thin walls and a lot of corridor noise. Breakfast could be better; they only offer a voucher to go to the 7‑Eleven upstairs, which doesn’t have many options.

The location was quite good. There were cockroaches.
