The loud ventilation system buzzes constantly and the steep stairs to the room are a hassle.

The chalet‑style decor feels warm, the room is spacious, the outdoor spa is great, and the location is very quiet. The self‑check‑in requires you to double‑check your emails before arriving to get the codes.

We weren’t told we couldn’t check in after about 9 pm, even though we had booked 15 minutes earlier and had been driving around the area. Service was spotty. I tried calling 10 times; once someone answered then hung up.

The reception at the hotel property was decent, but the room was an attic on the second level that wasn’t mentioned on booking. It hit our heads a few times and felt very cramped. Management wasn’t on site when we arrived at 7 pm and didn’t answer our calls. The stairs were extremely narrow; I fell once and got hurt. Breakfast was mediocre—no proper bread, milk, or toaster, and very little vegetarian. It wasn’t worth the money. The bathroom drainage was clogged.

The views were nice and I liked the hot tub. We were worried about a few things: we had trouble finding it and called several times during the stated check‑in window, but no one answered. When we finally located it, there was no outdoor lighting over the porch and steps. It was all self‑check‑in and nobody spoke to us. Compared to other places we stayed in Iceland, the breakfast was poor—mostly carbs, no eggs, no fruit—and this was the most expensive spot we visited.
