“We loved it and would happily return.”

The hosts were charming and engaging, genuinely interested in their guests, and they took great care of us, giving excellent tips for places to visit, restaurants, and sharing their knowledge of the area. Everything went smoothly. The friendly dogs were a welcome bonus. Masseria Battaglini is an authentic, tranquil setting and experience, with historic, quintessential charm in the beautiful countryside. Breakfast was beautiful, with freshly made bread and pastries on the terrace in the early morning sun. The terrace is also great for dinner after a trip to a local market. The massage on the terrace by the pool was excellent. We loved it and hope to return. The only downside was that the beds were a bit soft.

“Good, authentic Trulli experience but facilities below par for the price”

When we arrived we were greeted warmly by Giovanella, Giuseppe, Susan and the dogs, making us feel special. We stayed in the Trulli apartment, which had a large basket of fresh fruit, and Susan kindly brought us a pot of tea. The first night we enjoyed a fantastic four‑course dinner in the dining room featuring traditional local dishes. Giovanella is a passionate cook and even offers cooking classes during the day. Each morning Susan prepared breakfast with various freshly baked breads and cakes, eggs from their own chickens, homemade jam, and the almond biscuits were incredible. Giovanella and Susan are very friendly and eager to help. The Trulli apartment is very spacious, with a double bed and two sofa beds, so it could accommodate at least six people. In the evenings it was nice to relax on the couches and read before bed, and the countryside setting ensured a quiet, good night’s sleep. At the time we booked, this was one of the most expensive apartments in the area, and we expected something 5‑star. Despite the friendly owners and staff, it didn’t feel that way. Everything works, but the small bathroom and kitchenette are dated. There is one toilet, which could be an issue for six people. When you shower you can avoid flooding the floor, but you have to be careful. When my wife showered and washed her hair, there was hardly any hot water left. There are probably other properties that offer better value for money.

“Ein Traum...”

I was absolutely spoiled by Giovannella’s care and cooking skills. The place feels like a peaceful sanctuary for the soul. The three days we spent in the Trullo were a dream; we felt at home and made new friends in Giovannella and Guisuppe.

Giovanella was an outstanding host, and the property itself is beautiful, spotless, and nurturing; they did everything to keep us comfortable and happy, and the gardens are the most gorgeous. I would recommend it without hesitation.

If I could give 16 stars, I would. Giovanella and Giuseppe are remarkable hosts, and every meal feels like a heartfelt gift. I adore the beauty, the quiet, and the sense that this is a genuine farm and Masseria set in one of the most stunning locations ever. The food! Giovannella is a master chef and teacher. This vacation is, in my opinion, the best I’ve ever taken, even after traveling the world. It’s a great spot to explore the unique architecture and culture of nearby towns, all within an easy drive. I’m already planning my next visit, this time with my extended family! I can’t think of anything negative, except that I had to leave.
