I loved the scenic spot, just a short walk to the charming town, and the boat had everything we needed.

The peace, the surroundings, and the roomy accommodation were all top‑class, everything was flawless.

The setting was stunning, the boat was larger than expected, the swans, ducks, and geese around, a small terrace, arrival in the lounge, the rooms were fairly spacious, the kitchenette worked, the owners communicated all the essentials and were super friendly; we’d stay more than one night to enjoy more of Bergues. We mainly stayed on the boat, time flew. The best part: animals are allowed and parking is nearby. The day the place was gorgeous and convivial, the walkers, fishermen, everyone was nice, but at night it’s near the walls and troublemakers hide there to drink and toss bottles; we feared for the car as they tried to get in while drunk, we slept on the couch by the door. Unfortunately it’s the same everywhere now. On rainy days the narrow exit from the boat slips, we nearly fell into the water with our luggage.

We liked the quirky accommodation, the ample space, the equipment, the surroundings and how close it was to Bergues’ historic centre, but given the price the overall cleanliness was lacking—although the sheets, toilet and waste bins were tidy, the rest of the flat needed a deep clean (oven, dust, fridge, cobwebs, dirty windows). Moreover, a group of young people camped out all night by the quay opposite the barge, making noise and shouting from 9 pm until 8 am, which made sleeping impossible; I’m not sure if this is a regular weekend issue, but it certainly ruined our night.
