“Luxury camping amongst the vines”
The place was in a great spot, super quiet, and we managed to check ourselves in. The small house was spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

Nestled amid Wognum’s tranquil countryside, Wijngaard Saalhof offers gourmet dining, an organic vineyard, and rooms with flat‑screen TVs, free Wi‑Fi, and vineyard views. A restored 1920s barn houses an information centre, tasting room, and terrace overlooking the estate. Free private parking, 1 km to town, and a 10‑minute drive to Hoorn enhance accessibility.

The wooden chalet was super cozy and comfy right in the middle of the vineyards. I had excellent communication with Celine. There was a chance to eat at the semi‑gastronomic restaurant on site for €41 for a three‑course meal. The mattresses in the twin‑bed room were really soft. A toaster would have been a nice addition.

The location is nice, close to the village centre and the little steam‑train station. The place itself offers calm and also potential because of the restaurant and the vineyard. The log cabin is snug and fairly complete, including good wifi. The three cabins on the right side of the path share one entrance for unclear reasons, and the last one has to reach the lawn, which is fenced off by neat hedges, of the previous two. This unnecessary restriction of privacy for the first two cabins is quite at odds with the overall tranquility. Contact was only via WhatsApp and there was no information in the cabin about the restaurant and vineyard. Very disappointing, because the uniqueness of the vineyard as a stay location now gives only a very limited impression. Few TV channels worked and a microwave could have finished the kitchenette. It was also striking that only the bedrooms had a door, while the other windows naturally open at night for cooling. The thin curtains are not ideal for a long night’s sleep in summer, especially with a child. Fixed with trash bags.

The property was very welcoming. There were only a few pieces of dishware for preparing food.

It was a lovely little house with a nice veranda, nicely quiet. Saalhof was advertised on Booking as having an excellent restaurant, but when we confirmed the booking it was told that the restaurant is closed from Monday to Thursday, exactly the days we were there. That is important information that should be on Booking. Because of the missing detail the stay did not meet our expectations.
