“開けてびっくりひこにゃんROOM(笑)”

Parking was free without a reservation, and instead of the simple room shown online we got a room plastered with Hikonyan characters (laughs). I was fine with the simple room, but my friend from Wakayama loved it, so it worked out. The pajamas even had Hikonyan on them, which pumped my friend up, and the supplied shampoo and other toiletries were good. I can’t think of any real drawbacks; the surprise of a different room was odd, but my friend’s happiness made it fine.

The room came equipped with a washing machine and a microwave, which I thought was a thoughtful touch for anyone who wants to use them. Because the lobby was crowded at check‑in, I felt another tablet for checking in would have been helpful.

“Mooi hotel met een lekker ontbijt!”

It’s close to the station, which is great if you arrive late by train in Hikone. When I booked, the only room left was a smoking room.

The property was spotless and there were plenty of eateries nearby, making it a comfortable base for solo travelers. However, the lack of basic amenities was disappointing; I don’t need a shampoo hat, but I would have liked at least a toothbrush provided.
