“Forced to pay extra to get the room shown in the photos”
The room we were initially given was not the room shown in the photos when we made our reservation. When we told the property that the room was different from what we had booked, they told us that if we wanted the room shown in the photos, we had to cancel our reservation and pay them directly in cash. We explained that we had already paid for the reservation by credit card and that our booking did not have free cancellation. They told us to submit a cancellation request anyway and said they would approve the cancellation from their side without charging us, after which we could pay them directly in cash. We explained that even if they approved the cancellation, the money would not immediately return to our credit card and that the refund would take time, so this was not a reasonable solution for us. They then gave us another option: keep our existing reservation and pay an additional 1,000 TRY directly to the property to receive the room shown in the photos. Because we had arrived in the evening and needed somewhere to stay, we ended up keeping our reservation and paying the additional 1,000 TRY. In other words, we paid the full reservation amount plus another 1,000 TRY before they gave us the room shown in the photos. We also asked for a receipt for the additional 1,000 TRY payment. We were told they would speak with the manager about providing one, but despite our request, no receipt was ultimately provided. This was not a voluntary room upgrade. We paid the additional amount because the room shown in the listing and expected from our reservation was not initially provided to us
