It was close to where I needed to be for the weekend. The first night the room was cold, and a shelf on the wall had a very sharp edge that cut my head when I walked into it during the night. The local car parks are a bit of a walk.

The room had nice colours, but the stay fell short of comfort. We had to call the owner for entry instructions when we arrived, and getting them by email beforehand would have been better, especially since my phone was only at 5 % battery—if it had died, getting in would have been tough. A visibly unhygienic mark on the wall was off‑putting, and the fire alarm’s bright light shone through the room all night, ruining sleep. The bed felt more like a camp bed. These simple fixes would have made the stay much more comfortable; it only did the job if you’re just looking for a place to sleep, otherwise it’s not the place to stay.

Only the proximity to the high street was a plus; otherwise the access was bad, the noise high, there was no hot water, the toilet smelled, and the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night.
