The village pub was lovely and welcoming, with comfortable rooms, great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a good spot in a very attractive and interesting village close to major roads and attractions.

The location was fine, but the bathroom could have been cleaner; a phone call made me think there was no table for the evening meal, so I had to book elsewhere, which was costly.

You basically get what you pay for, and the location is superb—just avoid Friday or Saturday nights. Parking is plentiful. The bed was so slanted that I had to place a whole pillow on the higher side to keep from rolling off. The bathroom was small but usable, and there was no air conditioning or fans during the heat wave, unlike other hotels on this trip that added portable fans. The biggest problem was a private event that prevented dining at the hotel, included a DJ, and ran past normal pub closing time; guests were not notified or offered a chance to cancel after the event was scheduled, which was a real inconvenience.

The location was lovely and quiet, not too far from Silverstone, and the staff were friendly; the pub served good food. The room felt a bit worn, and the fans in it could use replacement.
