The place was spacious, spotless, and super quiet, and the view was gorgeous. I could walk to the dive shops in Tulamben in just a few minutes.

I stayed almost a month and now plan to keep coming back to this spot in Tulamben. It sits in a quiet area with a stunning view of Agung volcano and the surrounding forest and farmland. The Wi‑Fi is fast and reliable, the bed is comfy, and there are plenty of power outlets. The lighting works well and the whole unit feels fairly new. The AC is a touch weak for the room size, so it can get a little warm on hot, sunny days, but otherwise it’s fine. The bathroom is decent: the toilet flushes, the shower heats up quickly, but it could use a mirror for shaving – I had to step outside to the bedroom mirror. The kitchen is on the porch and includes a sink, a 2‑burner stove, and a 3/4‑size fridge with a fairly large freezer, plus pots, pans, plates, and utensils. The porch is fairly big, with a table, two chairs, and a clothes‑drying rack. There’s a small Hindu shrine in the lawn area. Parking fits one car or several scooters; you could also park about 20 m down the road. It’s a 7‑minute walk to the main road and another 2 minutes to the dive drop‑off. To find the homestay, turn up the small road to Dive Concepts and go straight for about 500 m. Tulamben is a tiny village with a handful of restaurants, many dive shops, and a couple of small supermarkets; other facilities are very limited. The ATM is in the Indomaret at the far end of town. Diving here is amazing for macro, and Jiwa Dive is only 50 m away (I’m not sure how good they are – it’s a new operation and all the operators use the same tank provider, visit the same sites, etc., so just pick based on price and vibe). Restaurants all have similar menus; my favorite is Wayan near the supermarket and the pizza at Slice n Brew. Again, they’re all very similar, so choose by price and vibe. Overall it was basically wonderful and outstanding for the price. There were a few minor issues, but the owner is quick to respond and either his father or sister visits the homestay daily. Cleaning is arranged by letting them know you want the unit cleaned.
