“Un grand bol d’air !”

I stayed two nights at Izacali, a hotel that offers a very comfortable room right on foot from the canyon, a nice terrace for watching the surrounding wildlife, and I could use the host’s kitchen when needed, though most meals (partly included in the room price and tour) were taken at the nearby comedor. The host is also a guide for the Somoto Canyon tour and gave great advice for my border crossing. There was no internet on site and the network reception in Nicaragua was terrible (it seems better with Honduras’ network). That was a bit stressful because I needed it to prepare for my next border crossing, but the host and family helped as much as they could.

“Prima verblijf bij de ingang van de canyon.”

A great hostel with a very friendly and helpful owner, Ariel. A good base for visiting the canyon. We took the canyon tour with his nephew as guide, but he didn’t speak English, so we didn’t get much information. Still a super fun activity. The tour also included lunch at Ariel’s sister’s comedor del cañón, which was delicious. Breakfast is included in the price and is wonderful. There’s no internet or wifi, so it’s very quiet. The shower is warm and the beds are great. Nothing else. Our room had no key, which was a bit odd, but we didn’t feel unsafe.

The hostel is very nice overall. It’s the perfect place to stay before heading out the next day to the Sotomo canyon. The breakfast is good and included in the price. Everything is excellent.

“Perfekter Ausgangspunkt für Touren in den Canyon”

The hot shower water! Secure parking for several motorcycles, scooters, and large RVs. The canyon tour can start right from the accommodation, and we booked it spontaneously for the next day. Everything was very professional. The room was well kept and the beds comfortable. Our room had a terrace with a lovely garden view. Breakfast was great, plenty of coffee. The only downside is that there’s no place in the town to buy drinks or other supplies, and we had to arrange that through the hostel. I wish there was a direct shop for essentials, especially after a tough tour.
