“Worst “hotel” stay in the 20+ countries I have visited”
It’s close to the sights you want to see. After traveling to 20 countries and doing weekly work trips back home in the US, this was the worst hotel experience of my life. Imagine flying eight hours, spending an hour at security, then an hour of traffic from FCO to a place that feels more like a hostel than a hotel, and no one to greet you. No one was available to check me in, and the person I called to get access to the building blamed me for not filling out his paperwork. I assumed that because it’s a “hotel” I could check in immediately after paying for the night before, but I arrived at 8:30 AM and was still hassled. The phone operator had a terrible attitude. The room was awful: the AC didn’t work at all, there was only one nearly empty bottle of shampoo in the bathroom, later a plastic bag with a roll of toilet paper and coffee creamer was tied to the door handle. There was no blanket on the bed, just a sheet, and no hot water in the morning. The shower head was rusted. I was kept up all night by the upstairs neighbor hacking and coughing. This place was absolutely terrible and a total rip‑off. The owner should be ashamed to own this property. I’ve never stayed at a hotel that got anything right. I’ve been to Rome six times. There are plenty of nice places in this price range that are much better. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay at this dumpster fire.
