Quiet, yet very central, close to Khao San and Grand Palace, Golden Mountain is within walking distance. Delicious breakfast, a very tasty room in a beautiful house! The owner is very friendly and helpful.

A beautiful colonial-style property with typical Thai décor, meticulously cared for in every detail. It sits in the heart of old Bangkok, near main sights like the Royal Palace and Wat Pho (reachable in 5 minutes by Tuk Tuk), Khaosan Road (8 minutes on foot), etc. The neighborhood is still fairly local and in the process of renewal, so it’s lived by locals. If you’re after a classic Western hotel in a tourist area, this isn’t for you. If you want a typical, distinctive, stylish place, you’re in the right spot. We loved it! The staff are wonderful, they pamper you and look after you. We had trouble finding a train that had been full for days. They kept looking until they finally found one. The building is wooden, so it isn’t well soundproofed. You can hear voices from nearby rooms, though the building is small, so it’s not too much noise. To sleep well you need earplugs and an eye mask (the curtains block very little light).
