The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rest of our group stayed at a hotel across the street that cost more than twice as much for a comparable room. We’re glad we chose Hotel Shire and would stay there again.

The location is great, and the hotel is very small-scale, but the room doors slam loudly, which you can hear while sleeping.

The hotel was thoughtfully set up as a niche spot for a stay in Rome; the rooms matched their descriptions, we were greeted at arrival and shown our rooms and the breakfast area. Our room was adequate in size, nicely decorated, with ample storage for clothes, faced the centre of the building, and the shower room—designed for disabled access—was huge. Breakfast was prepared daily and delightful, with a coffee machine offering a range of good options; a free bottle of wine and a bunch of grapes in the room were nice touches. The staff were all very helpful and arranged our transfer to FCO airport on the last day for our early start. Everything was wonderful—location, rooms, breakfast, and staff. Thank you for a lovely stay. One note: the hotel is next to Harry’s Bar, not on the opposite side as shown on Google Maps.
