Isle Of Mull Hotel and Spa

The setting, view, and design of the hotel are beautiful, and the spa is decent. However, the devil lies in the details: the staff were clearly understaffed, so despite being friendly they barely had time to do more than the bare minimum, making it feel like you were always chasing someone for help. The food was bland, the wine was warm, and many small issues added up—pillows needed an update after five years, restaurant etiquette was lacking, and so on.

“Zeer mooi gelegen hotel”

The hotel’s location is gorgeous, overlooking the water with ferries coming and going. We had a clean room with a large, comfortable bed, a nice walk‑in shower, and coffee and tea facilities plus tasty snacks that were replenished daily. The restaurant food was good, though pricey, and the breakfast buffet was fantastic. We didn’t use the wellness or pool facilities because we had no time. The main drawback was the many flights of stairs to and from the room—two flights up, two down, and another up in the hallway—plus the clattering of doors.

“Expensive and a little dissapointing.”

The check in was easy and the staff member checking me in was very helpful. The room was nice, although a little on the small side if you have a big dog with you, and there was plenty of outdoor space to walk the dog. The customer service on the whole was terrible. The staff couldn't wait to get home. They cashed up the tills at 9.30 even though the bar was open till 11pm, so some people couldn't buy drinks because they only had cash. We ordered food at the bar and then no one came to our table to give us any cutlery or condiments, the starters arrived and we had to sit and wait for knives and forks etc. Then no one came and checked on us, so we sat there for about 30 mins, then our mains arrived but the table hadn't been cleared, and the food was very poor quality and un-surprisingly very expensive. In the morning we asked if it was possible to buy a take-away coffee, we were told "if you want coffee you have to sit and drink it" - not helpful, there were also no breakfast takeaway options or the option to have breakfast in your room if you're leaving early like we were. It felt like most (not all) of the staff were just desperate to finish and get home. Unfortunately it didn't have a warm welcoming atmosphere that you might expect from a hotel of this type. Overall we had a disappointing experience which was a shame because we were really looking forward to a nice evening with some nice food and wine after a lot of travelling

“Very disappointing. We could not wait to leave this hotel.”

The reception staff were exceptionally helpful. The hotel is sprawling across three levels with no lift, which is completely unacceptable for elderly guests with heavy luggage. The room décor was shabby and dated. One of our group members found wet towels upon arrival. The window in our ground‑floor room wouldn’t shut properly and felt insecure, with guests walking past our window looking in. I can’t see how this is a four‑star hotel.

“Not worth the money ......”

The rooms and staff were lovely, and the complimentary snacks were a nice touch. The location was great, though there was no view from the room or spa. The spa itself was really dirty and in need of renovation, which was why we had booked it and paid extra. Windows needed cleaning, there was mould on the bedroom window, and there was no water in the room.
