The location was great and the neighborhood was fun, but the basement accommodation was not very clean, had sanitation drainage issues, and was dim. The only window faced a small, dirty outdoor space, and the place was poorly insulated, so noisy neighbors made the nights difficult.

It served as a solid base in London; the bathroom looked brand new and lovely. The lady who changed the sheets midway through my stay was a delight and very kind. I would have given a higher rating if the receptionist hadn’t been unprofessional—she seemed like the owner, surprised me with details about another guest’s situation, which was unexpected.

The spot is excellent, close to Paddington station (so you can get anywhere) and next to Lancaster Gate; the front‑desk staff (in a different entrance but nearby) were very friendly, and you can store luggage before check‑in or after check‑out. For the price, staying a couple of nights is fine. One mattress was extremely soft, the pillows were awful, cleaning could use more detail (especially the rug), and general maintenance was lacking; I’d leave the window slightly open to ventilate, otherwise it smells bad on return.

Very well located, comfortable and clean—there’s nothing more you could ask for at that price. The bathroom is outside the room, but that’s not a problem given the cost.
