“Good bones, needs a lot of work”
It looked and felt clean, the styling was visually beautiful, the shower was large, the breakfast room was lovely, and the location was good. We paid $253 for one night for two beds and the booking receipt confirmed two beds, but on arrival we found only one bed, and no offer of another room with two beds or a fold‑out bed to fix the issue. We were offered a full refund if we went somewhere else, but we were too exhausted to even consider that option. We were also offered an additional room for another $190. There was no way a nine‑year‑old should have a room by herself or should need to pay anything extra to access what we purchased originally, so we declined that. Even more so when another guest successfully gained entry to a neighbouring room that wasn’t his in the middle of the night; the staff had put the wrong key on his key ring. I shudder to think how traumatic that would have been if that had been my 9‑year‑old daughter’s room. It seems strange that the motel wouldn’t have an emergency fold‑out bed option; I thought motels had that option as standard. The double bed we shared was small; my daughter is a thrasher in her sleep, but we survived. Cement floors and only a reed rug under the bed looked stylish but left us without the option to set up a pallet on the floor. (No extra bedding offered either.) All up not very comfortable and the staff seemed to lack the skill and resources to deal with booking mixups in a satisfactory way. (Should have offered a fold‑out bed or mattress and bedding.) We didn’t get what we paid for and a vague promise of a partial refund looks unlikely to eventuate. Perhaps I should have been more insistent. In my defense, I was exhausted from the drive. (Overall, staff were polite but generally not willing to accept responsibility for the issue or its resolution.) There was no table and chairs in the room to eat meals, unusual. My daughter also noticed one of the hot chocolate packets supplied in the room was dated 3 years ago (2023).
