“A very peaceful stay”
This place is a slice of paradise. I was greeted kindly. The hostel is small and run by a woman from Bocas del Toro, which makes it even more special and homely. Since she lives there and sometimes hosts visitors, it feels far more family‑like than big hostels. The hostel sits above the water, and you can step straight into the water from there. The water is calm and temperate, perfect for swimming, which was a big plus for me. The porch has hammocks to relax in; you can literally spend the whole day there comfortably. The kitchen has all the basics for cooking, a fridge with freezer. You can use the washing machine for 3 dollars per wash. Shops are nearby, and the town center is about a 10‑minute walk away, where there’s an ATM. The place is super quiet, which is great for relaxing. Thank you so much to Martha and Flor for the lovely stay.
The stay was great overall, but a few points to consider: the waves are quite audible and if it rains it’s even louder; if you’re a light sleeper, earplugs help. There was no curtain in the room, so a mask is better if you want to sleep after the sun comes up, which is early. It seemed there was no hot water in the shower (I didn’t ask, but it didn’t look like there was). It was hot overall and the water wasn’t too cold, but that’s something to keep in mind. A couple of times the neighbors started using an electric saw around 7 am; nothing could be done, but it didn’t last long.
